Join OSHA Safe + Sound Week 2025

Written by Unison Risk Advisors

August 11–17, 2025 marks the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) annual Safe + Sound Week, a nationwide event that celebrates the successes of workplace safety and health programs and encourages organizations of all sizes to keep building a proactive safety culture.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to strengthen an existing program, Safe + Sound Week is the perfect opportunity to engage your team, spotlight your safety efforts and take meaningful steps toward a safer workplace.

The Data Behind the Movement

As a key partner in the Safe + Sound initiative, the National Safety Council (NSC) helps organizations understand the real impact of workplace safety efforts. According to the NSC Injury Facts, workplace safety remains a critical issue:

  • From 2022 to 2023, work-related deaths decreased by 3.2%, but injuries still account for a significant number of preventable deaths.
  • The leading causes of preventable injuries are overexertion, slips, trips, and falls, contact with objects, and exposure to harmful substances or environments.
  • The economic impact is alarming, with billions of dollars lost annually due to medical costs, lost productivity and insurance claims.

These numbers underscore the importance of continuous improvement and data-driven safety strategies.

Why It Matters

A strong safety and health program is a foundation for long-term success. OSHA’s Safe + Sound campaign focuses on three core elements that make safety programs effective:

  • Management Leadership: When management visibly prioritizes safety efforts and sets clear expectations, it builds trust and accountability across the organization.
  • Worker Participation: Involving workers in safety planning and decision-making leads to smarter solutions and a stronger sense of ownership.
  • Hazard Identification and Control: Proactively identifying and addressing risks before they lead to incidents is the most effective way to protect your team and your bottom line.

How to Participate

Safe + Sound Week offers a chance for organizations of all sizes to recognize their commitment to workplace safety and health. OSHA and its partners offer a variety of tools to help you plan useful activities.
