We were busy, which was good. But busy meant a lot of contracts, documents, and agreements, and with a high level of activity there was more chance that something could occasionally go wrong. The owner of the firm was involved in the day-to-day business, and he was the one we’d go to if things got sticky or we couldn’t find a solution to a problem or see a resolution to a conflict. He had a standard practice when one of us would go to him for help. He would listen to the explanation of the problem or challenge, then point to a sign on his desk that said: #### **“There is another way of looking at this.” ** It was his way of making us think; of pushing us to be creative about how we interpreted challenges and the options we came up with for solutions. #### **What’s The Risk?** The risk is that when we give up on a challenge, when we perceive we’re at an unmovable roadblock and stop looking for a solution, we also give up the potential for success. But with a slight change in our mindset, we can keep moving forward. Thomas Edison once said, “When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this – you haven’t.” The power of perception really is an amazing thing.
